حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْقَرَنِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي جِنَازَةٍ وَمَعَهَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ، فَسَمِعَ بُكَاءً فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I was at a funeral and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was also with it. He heard the sound of weeping, and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, the deceased is punished because of his family's weeping over him."
