Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12936 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: What

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبَأٌ مَا هُوَ؟ أَرَجُلٌ أَوِ امْرَأَةٌ أَمْ أَرْضٌ , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «رَجُلٌ وَلَدَ عَشَرَةً فَسَكَنَ الْيَمَنَ سِتَّةً، وَالشَّامَ أَرْبَعَةً، فَأَمَّا الْيَمَانِيُّونَ فَمَذْحِجٌ، وَكِنْدَةُ، وَالْأَزْدُ، وَالْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ، وَأَنْمَارٌ، وَحِمْيَرُ، وَأَمَّا الشَّامِيُّونَ، فَلَخْمٌ، وَجُذَامُ، وَعَامِلَةُ، وَغَسَّانُ»
Alqamah bin Wa'lah narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: What is Saba'? Is it a man, a woman or a land? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It was a man to whom ten sons were born; six of them settled in Yemen and four in Syria. Those of Yemen are Madhhij, Kindah, al-Azd, the Ash'ariyyun, Anmar and Himyar. And those of Syria are Lakhm, Judham, Amilah and Ghassan."
