Musa bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sinan bin Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) and I set out with two sacrificial camels, and we feared what we should do if one of them became exhausted on the way; we were troubled about this. Sinan said: When we reach the city, we will find out about this. When we arrived, I said: Would you like to go to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) at the Siqayah (the water-giving place) so that we may speak with him? So Sinan asked him about the matter of his two camels, and he said: You have asked the one who knows. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent so-and-so al-Aslami and sent eighteen sacrificial camels with him. He said: O Messenger of Allah, what should I do if one of them becomes unable to walk on the way? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Slaughter it, then dip its garland in its blood and strike it on its side, and neither you yourself nor any of your companions should eat from it."
