Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12456 — Adi bin Badda' and Tamim al-Dari used

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: Adi bin Badda' and Tamim al-Dari used to travel back and forth to Makkah for trade, and a man from Banu Sahm went out with them. He died in a land where there was no Muslim, and he entrusted his will (to deliver his estate) to the two of them. They handed his estate over to his family, but kept back a silver goblet decorated with gold threads. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made them both swear by Allah that "you did not conceal it, nor did you set (anything) aside." Then the goblet was found in Makkah, and they (who had it) said: We bought it from Tamim al-Dari and Adi. Then two of the heirs of the Sahmi man stood up, swore an oath and took the goblet. And it was concerning them that this verse was revealed: "O you who believe, the testimony among you (at the time of making a will) is" [Surah Al-Ma'idah: 106] to the end of the verse.
