حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: فِي قَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {عَسَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا} [الإسراء: ٧٩] قَالَ: «يُجْلِسُهُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ، وَبَيْنَ جِبْرِيلَ، وَيُشَفَّعُ لِأُمَّتِهِ فَذَلِكَ الْمَقَامُ الْمَحْمُودُ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praised station (Maqam Mahmud)" [Al-Isra: 79], said: "Allah Almighty will seat him (peace and blessings be upon him) between Himself and Jibril (peace be upon him), and his (peace and blessings be upon him) intercession for his Ummah will be accepted; that is the praised station."
