Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12389 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah and it was the day of Ashura, and the Jews were fasting. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is this?" They said: This is the day on which Allah drowned Pharaoh and saved Musa (peace be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am more entitled to Musa (peace be upon him)," and so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that it be fasted.
