Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12357 — the wives of the Prophet ﷺ used
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ، ثنا يَزِيدَ بْنِ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كُنَّ يَطُفْنَ بِالْبَيْتِ، وَعَلَيْهِنَّ مَلَاحِفُ حُمْرٌ، وَلَيْسَتْ بِالْمِشْعَةِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform tawaf of the House (the Ka'bah) wearing red sheets, and they were not conspicuous (gaudy).
