Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12244 — Concerning the verse, Whether you reveal

Concerning the verse, "Whether you reveal what is in your hearts or conceal it, Allah will hold you to account for it" [Surah al-Baqarah: 284], Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When it was revealed, it weighed very heavily on the Muslims and was hard for them, so Allah Almighty abrogated it and revealed this verse: "Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity" [Surah al-Baqarah: 286].
