Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12222 — Muhammad ﷺ asked his Lord not to divide

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ، ثنا حَكَّامُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ، عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «سَأَلَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَبَّهُ أَنْ لَا يَلْبِسَهُمْ شِيَعًا، وَلَا يُذِيقَ بَعْضَهُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ فَأَبَى»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: "Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked his Lord not to divide them into factions, and not to make some of them taste the violence of others, but Allah refused."
