Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12208 — When this verse was revealed: Those whom

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "Those whom the angels take in death while they are wronging themselves" [Surah al-Nahl: 28] to the end of the verse, there were some people in Makkah who had accepted Islam, but when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) emigrated to Madinah, they disliked emigrating and were afraid. So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Those whom the angels take in death" [Surah al-Nahl: 28] up to His words: "except the weak and helpless" [Surah al-Nisa: 98].
