حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ الْأَفْطَسِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَظُنُّهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ الْجَنَّةَ سَأَلَ عَنْ أَبَوَيْهِ وَزَوْجَتِهِ وَوَلَدِهِ فَيُقَالُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا دَرَجَتَكَ وعَمَلَكَ فَيَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ قَدْ عَمِلْتُ لِي وَلَهُمْ فَيُؤْمَرُ بإِلْحاقِهِمْ بِهِ " وَقَرَأَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ {وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ} [الطور: ٢١] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrating most probably from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), says: "When a man enters Paradise, he asks about his parents, his wife and his children, and he is told: They did not reach your rank and your deeds. He says: O my Lord, I did good deeds for myself and for them. Then the command is given that they be joined with him." And Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) recited this verse: "And those who believed and whose offspring followed them in faith" [Surah al-Tur: 21] to the end of the verse.
