Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11900 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was praying

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying when Abu Jahl came and forbade him from praying, so Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Then let him call his associates; We will call the angels of punishment." [Surah al-Alaq: 17-18] Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Had he done so, the angels of punishment would have seized him.
