حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا ضَرَرَ، وَلَا ضِرَارَ، وَلِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ خَشَبَةً عَلَى حَائِطِ جَارِهِ، وَإِذَا شَكَكْتُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَاجْعَلُوهَا سَبْعَةَ أَذْرُعٍ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible to cause harm, nor to repay harm with harm. A man has the right to place a beam on his neighbour's wall. And when you are in doubt about (the width of) a road, make it seven cubits."
