حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الشَّهْرَ، صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ، فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not go out to meet the month (by fasting ahead of it). Fast upon sighting it and break your fast upon sighting it, and if clouds come in between, then complete the count."
