Muhammad bin Sirin relates: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) entered upon Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was reciting poetry, and he said: O brother, Allah has taught you something better for you than this. He said: Certainly. Then al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: Do you fear that I will die on my bed? By Allah, that will not be Allah's trial of me. I have killed a hundred of the polytheists, some of whom I killed alone and some in whose killing I shared.
