حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ السوسيُّ، ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَصُومُوا قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ، وَصُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا ثَلَاثِينَ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast upon sighting it (the crescent) and end the fast upon sighting it, and if clouds come in between, complete thirty days."
