Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My mother has died and she had not performed Hajj, nor did she leave a bequest for it. Shall I perform Hajj on her behalf?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell me, if your mother had owed a debt and you had paid it off (would that not have sufficed)?"
