Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11543 — Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As led the people

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer while in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). Then, when they came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the people mentioned this to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and asked him about it, and he said: "O Messenger of Allah, I feared that the cold would kill me, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has said: 'And do not kill yourselves; indeed, Allah is ever Merciful to you' [Surah al-Nisa: 29]." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent about him.
