Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) affirmed the truth of two couplets from the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt. His verse was: — [the Tawil metre] — A man and a bull are beneath his right foot — and beneath the other is an eagle, and a lion lying in wait. — So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He spoke the truth." And also this verse of his: — And the sun rises at the end of every night — red, its colour glowing in the morning. — It refuses to rise for us at its ease — except being punished and being lashed. — So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He spoke the truth."
