Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came from Yemen and met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at al-Juhfah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali, with what did you enter ihram?" He replied: "O Messenger of Allah, with the same as that with which you entered ihram." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) made him a partner in his sacrificial animals.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a man called Ibn al-Utbiyyah to collect zakah. He collected the zakah, then returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I neither exceeded the limits nor left any due uncollected, and I was given a gift, so I accepted the gift." At this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat on the pulpit and said: "I send some men to collect zakah, and then one of them comes and says: 'By Allah, I neither exceeded the limits nor left any of their dues, and I was given a gift, so I accepted it.' Could he not have sat in some hut and waited to see whether he would be given a gift or not? Beware! Let none of you come carrying on his neck a camel that is grunting, or a cow that is lowing, or a goat that is bleating." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits could be seen, and then said: "O Allah, have I conveyed (the message)?"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seated al-Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him on his mount, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) continued reciting the talbiyah until he (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned the Jamrah.
