Maymun al-Makki narrated that he saw Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) leading the people in prayer, and he would gesture with his palms when he stood in the prayer, when he bowed, when he raised his head from bowing, and when he rose. (He said:) So I went to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: "I have seen Ibn al-Zubayr praying a prayer that I have not seen anyone else pray," and I described this gesturing to him. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "If you wish to see the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then follow the prayer of Ibn al-Zubayr."
