Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11133 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقُرْمُطيُّ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْهَرَوِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سَمْعَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَابِطٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَعَلَّكَ أَنْ تَبْقَى بَعْدِي حَتَّى تُدْرِكَ قَوْمًا يُكَذِّبُونَ بِقَدَرِ اللهِ الذُّنُوبَ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ اشْتَقُّوا كَلَامَهِمْ ذَلِكَ مِنَ النَّصْرَانِيَّةِ، فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فابْرءُوا إِلَى اللهِ عَنْهُمْ» . فَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ وَيَقُولُ: «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَبْرَأُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا أَمَرَ نَبِيُّكَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Abd al-Rahman bin Sabit (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Perhaps you will remain alive after me until you come upon people who deny the decree of Allah regarding the sins of His servants. They have derived this view of theirs from Christianity. When that happens, declare yourselves free of them before Allah." And Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to raise his hands and say: "O Allah, I declare myself free of them before You, just as Your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded."
