حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْباعِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُعْفِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، أَحْسَبُهُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «إِنْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعَوَالِي لِيَدْعُو رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ عَلَى خُبْزِ الشَّعِيرِ فَيُجِيبُ»
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) - I think from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) - said: "A man from the people of al-Awali (the outlying areas of Madinah) would invite the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at midnight to eat barley bread, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would accept."
