Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10897 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ النَّسَائِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، ثنا مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ مُهَلْهَلٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَلَدَ حَرَامٌ حَرَّمَهُ اللهُ، وَلَمْ يُحِلَّ فِيهِ الْقَتْلَ لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلِي، وَأُحِلَّتْ لِي فَهِي حَرَامٌ بِحُرْمَةِ اللهِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the Conquest of Makkah: "Indeed, this city is sacred; Allah has made it sacred. Killing in it was not made lawful for anyone before me, and it was made lawful for me; so it is sacred by the sanctity of Allah."
