حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الدَّبَّاسُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَعْمَلُ فِيمَا جَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ، وَجَفَّ بِهِ الْقَلَمُ، أَوْ شَيْءٌ نَأْتَنِفُهُ؟ قَالَ: «بَلْ لِمَا جَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ، وَجَفَّ بِهِ الْقَلَمُ» قَالَ: فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ؟ قَالَ: «اعْمَلْ فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, do we act according to what the decrees have already settled and with which the pen has dried, or is it something new that we begin?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, according to what the decrees have already settled and with which the pen has dried." He said: "Then what is the point of deeds?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Act, for each one has been given ease for it."
