حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، أَنَّ نَاعِمًا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ مَوْلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: " رَأَى رَسُولُ اللهِ حِمَارًا مَوْسُومَ الْوَجْهِ، فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: فَوَاللهِ لَا أَسِمُهُ إِلَّا أَقْصَى شَيْءٍ مِنَ الْوَجْهِ، فَأَمَرَ بِحِمَارٍ لَهُ فَكُوِيَ فِي جَاعِرَتَيْهِ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a donkey that had been branded on its face, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) disapproved of it. The man said: By Allah, I will brand it only on the part farthest from the face. Then he gave orders concerning a donkey of his, and it was branded on its two haunches.
