It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the pulpit: "Shall I not inform you of the worst of you?" The Companions said: Certainly, if you wish, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The worst of you are those who camp alone, flog their slaves, and withhold their gifts." He said: "Shall I not inform you of someone worse than that?" The Companions said: Certainly, if you wish, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "The one who hates people and whom people hate." He said: "Shall I not inform you of someone worse than that?" The Companions said: Certainly, if you wish, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "Those who do not overlook a slip, nor accept an excuse, nor forgive a sin." He said: "Shall I not inform you of someone worse than that?" The Companions said: Certainly, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "The one from whom no good is hoped for, and from whose evil no one is safe."
