Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10679 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ صَلَاحٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْخَطِّ، فَقَالَ: «هُوَ أَثَارَةٌ مِنْ عِلْمٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about khatt (drawing lines in the sand to foretell things), and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "It is a remnant of knowledge."
