حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ: " تُوُفِّي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِالطَّائِفِ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَسِتِّينَ، وَسِنُّهُ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً، وَكَانَ يُصَفِّرُ لِحْيَتَهُ قَالَ: «وُلِدْتُ قَبْلَ الْهَجْرِ بِثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ، وَنَحْنُ فِي الشِّعْبِ، تُوُفِّيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا ابْنُ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ»
Yahya bin Bukayr narrated: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) died in Ta'if in the year 68 AH, and at that time he was seventy-two years old; he used to dye his beard yellow. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "I was born three years before the Hijrah, while we were in the Shi'b. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, I was thirteen years old."
