It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "O daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Has the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left with you anything that you could give me (as a gift)?" She said: "O slave-girl, bring that (palm) stalk." She searched for it but could not find it, so Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Woe to you! Search for it, for to me it is equal to Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both)." So she searched for it and found that she had swept it away with her rubbish. Written on that (stalk) was: Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not a believer whose neighbour is not safe from his mischief. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour his guest; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbour; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent. Indeed, Allah loves the modest, the forbearing, the chaste, the one who refrains from asking; and He hates the shameless, the foul-mouthed, the one who begs persistently. Indeed, modesty is part of faith, and faith leads to Paradise; and shamelessness is part of foul speech, and foul speech leads to Hell."
