It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us the Istikharah (supplication): "O Allah, I seek good from You through Your knowledge, and I seek ability from You through Your power, and I ask You of Your bounty, for You have power and I have none, You know and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if this matter is good for me in my religion, good for me in my livelihood, and good for me in that through which I seek good, then choose it for me with well-being, make it easy for me and bless me in it; and if something other than that is better for me, then decree for me the good wherever it may be."
