Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10276 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated: O

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْأَسَدِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اللهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الْإِسْلَامَ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ أَوْ بِأَبِي جَهْلِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ» . فَجَعَلَ اللهُ دَعْوَةَ رَسُولِهِ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَبَنَى عَلَيْهِ الْإِسْلَامَ وَهَدَمَ بِهِ الْأَوْثَانَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah, honour Islam through Umar bin al-Khattab or through Abu Jahl bin Hisham." Allah accepted His Messenger's supplication in favour of Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), so Islam was strengthened through him and the idols were brought down through him.
