كتاب الفضائل والشمائل
The Book of Virtues and Characteristics
(التَّضْحِيَةُ كَانَتْ وَاجِبَةً عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي كُلِّ حَالٍ)
(Sacrifice was obligatory on the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, in every situation)
Mishkat al-Masabih 5775 — Sacrifice was obligatory on the Messenger
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كُتِبَ عَلَيَّ النَّحْرُ وَلَمْ يُكْتَبْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأُمِرْتُ بِصَلَاةِ الضُّحَى وَلَمْ تؤمَروا بهَا» . رَوَاهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيّ
Ibn `Abbas reported God s messenger as saying, "Sacrifice was prescribed for me but not for you, and I was ordered to observe prayer in the forenoon but you were not." Daraqutni transmitted it.
