أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : إِنَّ صَدَقَةَ الْمَرْءِ الْمُسْلِمِ تَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ ، وَتَمْنَعُ مِيتَةَ السُّوءِ ، وَيُذْهِبُ اللهُ عَنْهُ بِهَا الْكِبْرَ وَالْفَخْرَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the charity of a Muslim man becomes a means of increasing his lifespan, protects him from an evil death, and because of that charity Allah Almighty removes from the heart of that (person) such evils as arrogance, pride and vanity."
