قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ ، أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى ابْنُ عُمَرَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - عَلَى مَوْلُودٍ فِي الدَّارِ ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَ بِهِ فَدُفِنَ . فَقُلْتُ لِنَافِعٍ : أَكَانَ اسْتَهَلَّ ؟ قَالَ : لَا أَدْرِي .
هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ صَحِيحٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he offered the funeral prayer over a newborn child in the house itself, then sent it off (for burial) and it was buried. (The narrator of the hadith, Ubaydullah, says:) I asked Nafi': Had the child cried out at birth? He replied: I do not know.
