الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ ، عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ . عَنْ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - قَالَا : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ... فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَفِيهِ : وَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى مَيِّتٍ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ وَمَعَهُ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ ، وَغُفِرَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ، وَإِنْ أَقَامَ حَتَّى يُدْفَنَ وَحَثَى عَلَيْهِ التُّرَابَ انْقَلَبَ وَلَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ قِيرَاطٌ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ ، وَالْقِيرَاطُ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ ، وَمَنْ حَفَرَ قَبْرًا لِمُسْلِمٍ حَرَّمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى النَّارِ ، وَبَوَّأَهُ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، لَوْ وُضِعَ مَا بَيْنَ صَنْعَاءَ ، وَالْحَبَشَةِ لَوَسِعَهُمْ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us; then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith, in which it is also stated that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever offers the funeral prayer over a deceased person, Gabriel (peace be upon him), together with seventy thousand angels, prays for mercy for him, and his past sins are forgiven. And if he stays there until the burial is complete and also throws earth upon the deceased, then on his way back, until he reaches his home, he will earn one qirat of reward for every step, and one qirat is equal to Mount Uhud. And whoever digs a grave for a Muslim, Allah Almighty will make the Fire of Hell forbidden for him and will give him a place in a house in Paradise so vast that, if the whole expanse between Sana'a and Abyssinia were placed in it, it would hold them all."
