وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى الرَّقَاشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ ، وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ ، وَأَوْرِدْهُ حَوْضَ رَسُولِكَ .

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) making this supplication in the funeral prayer: "'Allahumma-ghfir lahu, wa salli 'alayhi, wa awridhu hawda rasulik' (O Allah, forgive him, send down Your mercy upon him, and bring him to the Pond of al-Kawthar of Your Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him))."
