Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 82 — The virtue of performing wudu thoroughly

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ، ثَنَا بَشَّارُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْخَصْلَةَ الصَّالِحَةَ تَكُونُ فِي الرَّجُلِ ، فَيُصْلِحُ اللهُ تَعَالَى بِهَا عَمَلَهُ كُلَّهُ ، وَطُهُورَ الرَّجُلِ لِصَلَاتِهِ يُكَفِّرُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِطُهُورِهِ ذُنُوبَهُ ، وَتَبْقَى صَلَاتُهُ نَافِلَةً " .
82 \ 2 - قَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : نَا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ، نَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، نَا بَشَّارُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ أَبُو بَدْرٍ الضَّبِّيُّ ، نَا ثَابِتٌ - بِهِ .
82 \ 2 - قَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : نَا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ، نَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، نَا بَشَّارُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ أَبُو بَدْرٍ الضَّبِّيُّ ، نَا ثَابِتٌ - بِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, when a single good habit and fine trait is found in a person, Allah Almighty, by virtue of it, sets right and reforms all his deeds. And when a man properly performs ablution and purification for his prayer, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, wipes out his sins in return for that purification, and then the prayer he offers remains for him as an extra reward and a voluntary (nafl) merit."
