قَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَنَزَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ حِينَ ثَوَّبَ الْمُثَوِّبُ فَقَالَ : إِنَّ نَبِيَّكُمْ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِالْوَتْرِ ، وَوَقَّتَ لَهُ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ ، أَذِّنْ يَا ابْنَ النَّبَّاحِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came out to us at the time when the caller called out (for the Fajr prayer), and he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Indeed your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered (the praying of) the witr and fixed this very time for it. O Ibn al-Nabbah! Now call the adhan."
