وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ يُقَالُ : الْوِتْرُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَقُلْتُ : مَا تَأْمُرُ بِهِ ابْنَتَكَ ؟ قَالَ : آمُرُهَا بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ، وَكَانَتِ ابْنَةَ خَمْسٍ أَوْ سِتِّ سِنِينَ .
It is narrated from Imam Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: It used to be said that "the witr prayer is binding upon the people of the Qur'an (that is, its bearers and reciters)." (The narrator said:) I asked: "What do you order your daughter regarding this?" He said: "I order her to pray two rak'ahs after Isha," while at that time she was only five or six years old.
