Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 453 — When to say the first takbir

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning a man who enters the mosque while the people are bowing (in prayer): should he say the takbir (right there)? He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No (he should certainly not do so), until you reach the row and take your place in it."
This narration is sahih (authentic) in its chain and mawquf (a Companion's statement).
