Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 4144 — The virtue of some Arab tribes

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Quraysh, the Ansar, and the tribes of Juhaynah, Muzaynah, Aslam, Ghifar, Ashja' and Banu Sulaym are my true friends and devoted companions; they have no other guardian or real protector besides Allah and His Messenger." Amr bin Yahya said: After that I met Ishaq bin Sa'd bin Ibrahim in the mosque and said to him: My father narrated this hadith to me from your father (and he mentioned it in full). Ishaq said: They (the tribes) are only seven, and I do not know which name is the one that was left out (in my father's narration). Amr said: My father mentioned, on the authority of another narrator, that the name that was missing from them is Banu Sulaym.
I (Ibn Hajar) say: This hadith is in the Sahih collections with a different wording, through another route which Sa'd bin Ibrahim narrated via al-A'raj from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), and in terms of its chain that is the more reliable and correct one.
