وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ فِي الزُّهْدِ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عِرَاكَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : إِنِّي لَأَقْرَبُكُمْ مَجْلِسًا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ تَرَكْتُهُ فِيهَا ، وَإِنَّهُ وَاللهِ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا وَقَدْ تَشَبَّثَ مِنْهَا بِشَيْءٍ غَيْرِي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection I will be, of all of you, the nearest in sitting to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); (for my condition is that) whoever departs from the world in the same state in which I left him (peace and blessings be upon him) in this world (will be near). And by Allah, there is not a single one of you who has not clung to, or become entangled in, something of the world, except me."
Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded it in Kitab al-Zuhd.
