وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، ثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ قَنَانِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا لِي وَلَكُمْ ، مَنْ آذَى عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَقَدْ آذَانِي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (addressing those who complained against Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)): "What is the matter with you, and what is my dealing with you? Whoever hurts Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) has indeed hurt me."
Imam al-Harith bin Abi Usamah narrated this hadith in his Musnad. The hadith scholars have criticised the narrator Qanan bin Abdullah al-Laythi in its chain; however, since supporting reports for it exist in other books of hadith, this narration is acceptable.
