وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ ابْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - بِيَدِهِ عَسِيبُ نَخْلٍ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : اسْمَعُوا لِخَلِيفَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

It is narrated from Qays bin Abi Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I saw Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) with a palm branch in his hand, and he was saying (to the people emphatically): "Listen attentively to the Khalifah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
