قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، ثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، ثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ قَارْوَنْدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : إِنَّ الَّذِي فَرَضَ عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لَرَادُّكَ إِلَى مَعَادٍ - قَالَ : مَعَادُهُ آخِرَتُهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning this noble saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "Indeed, He who imposed the Qur'an upon you will surely return you to a place of return" [Surah al-Qasas: 85], that he said in explaining it: "In this blessed verse, the word 'ma'ad' (place of return) refers to the Hereafter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (and his return to the Praised Station and the lofty ranks prepared there for him, peace and blessings be upon him)."
Abu Ya'la (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded this report; in its chain, Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Ali (al-Baqir) transmitted it from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him).
