وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِيَاضٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : " هُمْ قَوْمُ هَذَا " ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ : فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِي اللهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), pointing towards Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), said: "He belongs to that very people," by which he (peace and blessings be upon him) meant this glorious statement of Allah, Glorified and Exalted: "Soon Allah will bring a people whom He Himself loves and who love Him" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 54].
Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated this hadith; its chain is of hasan (good) grade, and supporting evidence found in other books of hadith confirms its authenticity.
