It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I cannot imagine any person of sound mind and understanding going to sleep without reciting the last verses of Surah al-Baqarah: The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and (so have) the believers [Surah al-Baqarah: 285-286], for these verses have been granted from a special treasure beneath the Throne of Allah."
Imam Musaddad recorded this report; in its chain, through Yahya, Shu'bah and Abu Ishaq, the narrator was in doubt over the name Sa'd or Sa'id. This report makes clear the magnificent virtue of these verses and their importance for the believer.
