Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3543 — Surah al-Baqarah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: Do they await anything except that Allah should come to them in canopies of clouds, and the angels [Surah al-Baqarah: 210], that he said in its explanation: "'Zulal' means canopies of clouds which have been separated into various layers, pieces and folds."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this report in his Musnad; its chain contains Zam'ah bin Salih, who is a da'if (weak) narrator, but it has supporting reports through other routes.
