It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I dislike that a reciter of the Noble Qur'an should be fat and heavy-bodied (from being absorbed in worldly comforts)."
The narrator said: Then I mentioned this to Imam Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him), and he explained that the actual words of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) were: "I strongly dislike that I should see a reciter who is fat and well-fed (out of heedlessness and luxury) and who forgets the Qur'an."
